A nice easy hike that starts in the lush forest and ends up in thinner evergreen trees with beautiful views of Diablo Lake as well as snow covered peaks. There are lots of colorful leaves on the ground but the trees still have many, making for a golden walk. The trail is rocky in some spots but overall is easy to navigate. You will have a few trees to step over however they should be no problem. We only saw one other couple on the trail so pretty much had the trail to ourselves. Overall, a perfect day.

This was a nice hike, but there are better choices in the area...I'd recommend Maple Pass or Blue Lake over this one. There's some nice fall foliage along the trail right now. The Thunder Knob trail takes you to an overlook of Diablo Lake, but honestly the overlook that you can drive to along Highway 20 has better views. https://www.outdoorproject.com/adventures/washington/special-destinations/diablo-lake-overlook It was a nice outing, but if I had it to do over, I'd spend my time in the North Cascades elsewhere.
