We chose this trail to end our camping trip and get some steps in before the long trip home. My three year old hiked to the top herself, where we had beautiful, but smoky views of the lake.  The trail has a nice easy grade and theres nothing tricky about it.  When we busted out our lunch sandwiches at the top, wasps came out by the dozens, but we hoofed it back to the car and had no other issues with the bugs.

We chose this hike because of all the reports saying it is easy.  It did not seem easy to us, and lots of people were resting on the way up.  But there is a beautiful view at the top, and we will try it again.  Maybe it was just a low-energy day?  We had thought about bringing our grandsons but were glad we didn't.

Short easy hike with my 7 yr old son. Sadly there's lots of shortcuts on the trail, always unjustifiable but especially baffling given how easy this hike is. Please stay on trail.

The views of Diablo Lake and surrounding peaks were really good with the clear weather.
