This trail starts at the intersection with the summit road, the alpine ski area access road, and the snowmobile/Nordic access road. Parking along the side of the road does not require a SnoPark permit; parking in the snowmobile lot does require a permit. The trail starts by paralleling the summit road as it gradually makes its way to Bald Knob campground. The only difference between the winter route and the summer route is that snowshoers are not allowed to walk on the Alpine ski run, B-29 trail. There is a flagged route through the trees below B-29.
At Bald Knob campground the trail crosses the summit road (a winter snowmobile route) and then continues to parallel the roadbed out to the CCC cabin. I replaced the blue diamond route markers on this section as I hiked it, so the route should be easier to follow this winter.
There isn't a "trail issue" box for the trail issue I encountered on my trip -- there is a resident moose who likes to hang out in the woods between the parking area and the campground. It was standing on the trail when I hiked out -- just one more reason to respect the leash law if you hike with pets.
