Beautiful area with a lot to do! Hiking, fishing, wildlife watching, tubing, foraging etc. The trail is rather hard to follow. There are a ton of turnoffs where you’ll end up bushwhacking trying to get back to the main trail. We did about 4 miles roundtrip and at the end we just scrambled up the hillside to a nice viewpoint. We saw people foraging for currants with a decent harvest. We were primarily hiking but doing some birding as well, we found lazuli buntings, orioles and yellow breasted chat to highlight a few. We saw deer near the trail and bighorn sheep on the drive in. The parking lot was mostly full by noon and the ranger guy was giving out a ton of tickets to people trying to avoid paying the day pass. This does require a america the beautiful pass or another federal pass (NW forest pass and discover pass do NOT work). We didn’t get any ticks though I’m told they are common in the canyon. Also saw a couple small snakes. The stream was still running but rather slowly. I imagine in a couple weeks it’ll be dry so take that into consideration for the water source.
We made a YouTube video of the area

We hiked in late on Tuesday, around 4:30, and only encountered one other person. Nice trail, but very overgrown right now, especially after the second creek crossing. We turned around after about 2 1/2 miles because we got tired of bush-wacking! Check for ticks when you come out - found one when we got home.
