The excellent maintenance crews for King Co parks have done such a great job clearing windfall after the big storm 3 weeks ago. All the windfall has been cleared. The trail surface is pretty darn clean. I just had to kick away a few dozen rocks and branches.
There are a couple of root craters from fallen trees that have to be negotiated but are easy to get around.

Just a note regarding trail conditions after the bomb cyclone: lots of downed trees (cedar, fir, alder) and branches along the trail, but nothing impassable if you have a modicum of athleticism and flexibility. With that said, it was serendipitous that we left our large golden retriever behind, because it would have been impossible for her to navigate some of the downed trees, given their circumference, as she’s too heavy to pick up and lift over logs. A smaller dog would have been fine. Word to the wise—know your dog’s capabilities before heading out onto this trail right now!

The vine maples are sporting some nice fall color now. Most of the big leaf maples have lost their leaves so the forest is nice and bright.
Someone has cleared the upper section of the old trail so you can now make a loop near the peak (see alltrails tracing).
