We made our annual spring pilgrimage to Cowiche Canyon. We explored the canyon on both May 23 and May 24. Beautiful weather! This is such a cool place. Lots of birds, wildflowers, and geologic wonders. Our kids loved running over the many bridges and up the canyon slopes. Of course, the vineyard spur trail is a must! The Wildridge Winery is great. There is a tasting room with light food options and lots of places for the kids to play. A nice mid-hike break. Total mileage from the Weikel Road (west) trailhead to the vineyard and back was 5.26 miles (according to my Garmin). Remember: this is rattlesnake country. We encountered a rattlesnake heading up the south slope of the canyon. I think we scared it more than it scared us (although with two kiddos, we had a fair amount of "apprehension" :)).
