Full Time Positions

Communications coordinator

The Communications team at WTA is looking for an individual interested in inspiring hikers to explore and steward
public lands and trails. This person will contribute to various communication channels we use to engage WTA
members and supporters, providing them with up-to-date trail information, writing stories highlighting hikers
helping hikers and supporting interactions to deepen individuals’ engagement with the organization. Position
responsibilities include reviewing, researching and editing WTA’s online Hiking Guide, writing for WTA’s magazine
and blog, and donor data management. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to jump in where needed and excited about learning new skills. This entry-level position reports to the Hiking Guide Manager.

Marketing Manager

WTA is looking for a seasoned marketing professional to bring new expertise to our successful Communications
team. We are looking for someone who excels at developing strategies and content that will motivate people to
engage more deeply with WTA’s mission to inspire hikers to explore and protect trails. This person will play an
important role in helping set and execute our community engagement and marketing strategies across our
digital platforms, as well as aligning and enhancing our communications across the organization. The Marketing Manager is a new position that will grow and strengthen WTA’s marketing and digital communications efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to serve as a strategic thought partner to the Communications Director and help expand the reach and influence of the organization. The Marketing Manager reports to the Communications Director. This cross-functional position works closely with the Communications and Development teams as well as other program staff.

Volunteer Program Coordinator

WTA impact is powered by nearly 5,000 annual volunteers. We are seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinator who is passionate about trails and volunteerism to support and engage this community as we continue advancing WTA's mission. The Volunteer Program Coordinator helps ensure a positive experience for WTA's volunteers by helping shape the trail maintenance volunteer program and providing administrative support. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented team player who is motivated to provide excellent stewardship of our relationships and data. The Volunteer Program Coordinator is a full-time non-exempt position based in WTA's downtown Seattle headquarters that reports to the Trail Program Senior Manager.

Puget sound Field Manager

WTA is seeking a self-motivated project manager who is committed to volunteer engagement to join its trail maintenance program. This position manages WTA’s volunteer trail maintenance work with local, state, and federal partners in the central Puget Sound region and collaborates with a statewide team to grow a high-quality, established volunteer program. The position’s primary responsibilities are to develop and oversee execution of trail projects, develop staff and volunteer crew leaders, while maintaining and growing land manager partnerships. The Puget Sound Field Manager is a full-time exempt position based in WTA’s downtown Seattle headquarters that reports to the Field Operations Senior Manager and works closely with the Trail Programs Director.

Development Content Creator

WTA is looking for an experienced creative writer to join our development team. This person will play an important role helping set and execute our public fundraising strategy. We are looking for someone who excels at telling stories that motivate people to financially support WTA’s mission of inspiring hikers to explore and protect trails. The Development Content Creator reports to the Senior Manager of Individual and Corporate Giving, and works closely with the Development Director, communications team and other senior level staff.

Seasonal Positions

Trail crew leader

WTA is seeking Trail Crew Leaders who love working with people and share our commitment to trail stewardship and volunteerism. Trail Crew Leaders work outdoors leading volunteers in building and maintaining trails on public lands. The position's primary responsibility is to lead multi-day work parties across the state of Washington. These are temporary, full-time, field-based positions. We are currently looking to expand our Trail Crew with leaders for the following teams! 

Youth VOlunteer Vacations

WTA is seeking outdoor leaders who love working with teens and share our belief that everyone should feel included in the hiking community. Trail Crew Leaders and Assistant Trail Crew Leaders work outdoors leading teen volunteers on 8-day Youth Volunteer Vacations, where crews will build trails and community on public lands while camping in various front country locations across Washington. These are temporary, full-time, field-based positions. 

Crew member - Lost Trails Found Crew

This summer, WTA is continuing paid backcountry trail crews with the formation of the Lost Trails Found (LTF) Crew. The LTF crew will work in backcountry locations on National Forests throughout Washington State. This crew will focus on a broad variety of backcountry projects restoring lost trails while primarily working an eight day hitch schedule. The LTF Crew will predominantly self supported, and each member is required to carry their tools, food and camp supplies into remote settings. This is a temporary, field-based position that reports to the Lost Trails Found Coordinator.
