Overview

This training is for Crew Leaders and Assistant Crew Leaders. It is a hybrid class that includes self-paced virtual modules and one virtual session. Completion of all components is required to receive certification in both Leadership and Emergency Response.

This single course replaces the previous two-day Leadership and ER/L scenario format. There will be multiple training opportunities available in 2026.

Please note: To maintain your ACL or CL status, this training must be completed every two years.

Project Description

Class Description

The Leadership/ER Training is designed as a progression from the foundational knowledge gained in the ACL Basics course. Specifically, volunteer leaders will gain a deeper understanding in both emergency response situations and leadership challenges encountered on trail. Through scenario practice, volunteer leaders will focus on practicing risk mitigation and response strategies, honing conflict management skills, and addressing biases.

Class Objectives

  • Emergency Response: Participants will continue to grow in confidence and gain a deeper understanding of emergency response.
  • Conflict Management: Participants will advance their conflict resolution skills, allowing them to navigate crew dynamics effectively.
  • Addressing Bias: Participants will be equipped with strategies to recognize and learn when to address biases.
