Overview

Let us get out there and spruce up those trails! Big Finn Hill attracts many different user groups. Families stroll along side adventurous mountain cyclists! Come out and make sure that they all get what they want out of this King County Park.

About the Area

Big Finn Hill Park is the lesser-known cousin to the adjoining Saint Edwards State Park in Kirkland. Its expansive 220 acres are worth exploring and getting to know for their miles of meandering trails fit for mountain biking and casual strolling. Chock-full of tall Douglas-firs, ferns and bright green mosses, it offers possibilities to spot eagles, deer and owls.

What to Expect

We'll have fun, work hard and make a difference! No experience is necessary.

Project Description

We will be improving local trails by removing vegetation, improving drains, and resurfacing portions of trail surface. We will dig, cut plants, and move rocks and soil throughout the day along with possibly building a puncheon (wooden bridge) structure!

Hiking Information

The hike to the work site will be 1-2 miles round trip over rolling terrain with stable footing.

Schedule

  • 8:30 AM: Be ready to sign in and meet the crew, rain or shine
  • 8:35 AM: Gather for a safety briefing, then hike to the project site
  • Morning: Work at your own pace, and take breaks throughout the day
  • 12:00 PM: Lunch on the trail
  • Afternoon: Consider trying a new task before wrapping up the day's work
  • 3:30 PM: Sign out after enjoying refreshments at the trailhead

For safety reasons, arriving late or leaving early is not allowed.
