Excellent Hike and beautiful sights. Looking forward to return. Sad this area will be destroyed soon with a Rock Quarry that will feed 500 trucks a day past this parking area and Salmon Falls Road. Look up: www.500Trucks.com you have time to help all of us out.

Arrived at the Park & Ride/Trail Parking parking lot at 10am with only 1 other car there. Only ran into 3 hikers and the trail can be very muddy in certain areas. Started at the Upper Trail and at first it seemed like any other PNW hike. Didn't expect much from this trail but it surprised me after the first viewpoint. Changing of landscapes and the amount of viewpoints was amazing. Going from fern, moss covered forests to back roads, under a highway via tunnels, and through moss covered rocks was quite the adventure. First Columbia River Gorge hike I've done but I'll definitely come back on the warmer months or when it's more clear. Overall, this was a great hike.

This is a beautiful loop hike, and I plan on visiting again.  The trailhead convenient and easy to reach, with plenty of parking if you arrive in the morning.  Most hikers seem to go counter-clockwise on the trail or make it a there-and-back hike, but I went clockwise and am glad for it.  The trail is getting encroached upon by Himalayan Blackberries at the start, but most the blackberries have been pushed back.  After a short jaunt under HWY 14, there's a road walk for a bit, but you get a great view of the Cape Horn bridge from below.  The trailhead is easy to miss, but once you're on it, you'll have no issue.  There are several scree fields to cross, so bringing trekking poles to help balance is very useful!  Go to all the scenic outlooks, if you skip them you'll miss out.

Had a great time doing the full loop of the Cape Horn Trail.  I started at the parking lot and went counter-clockwise.  The highlight of the day was seeing a black bear.  A few pictures are attached.  The trailhead location I am posting is actually where I saw the bear.

First, I want to say thank you to the WTA crews that have been working on this trail recently. The trail is in GREAT condition!

There also seems to be evidence of bear activity on the lower trail. My husband saw a bear running across the highway about a mile from the trailhead last week, and today we saw both tracks and scat. I’ve hiked this trail frequently for the last five years and have never seen bears, so this was kind of surprising. Anyway, keep your eyes open, especially when passing the many blackberry patches on the road and lower trail.
