Beware of: trail conditions

Parking lot was 3/4 full on a Sunday at about noon. Trail is mostly in great shape. There are a few creek crossings that require some attention but nothing crazy. The falls and view make it all worthwhile.

It had been years since I was last here, so I picked Bridal Veil Falls as my birthday hike and brought my 10 yo and 8 yo along (first time here for the kids). The falls are raging! There is a LOT of water on the trail with a few large muddy patches and two larger creek crossings, but even with all that it’s an amazing time to hike here. Once we made it back to the fork we did venture up the Lake Serene trail for a bit just past the bridge to get the additional views of the lower falls, etc., which I highly recommend, it added less than a mile to our round trip and the kids said it was worth it.
Ours was the 3rd car in the parking lot when we arrived at 8am, and the lot was full when we left at 11am. We did not check out the privvy but it was open.

The trail is in good shape, and slippery in some parts. At the fork for Lake Serene/Bridal Veil the trail becomes narrow with A LOT of creek crossings, so bring your waterproof shoes! The trail is also rocky and rooty where stairs and boardwalks are not provided, so please watch your step.

It was not very busy considering the sunny day. The falls were stunning. I highly recommend taking he short side trip up the Lake Serene Trail to view the falls from the bridge.

This is a lovely little hike any day, but especially today! ☀️☀️☀️

We arrived 9:15-9:30 and there were a few spots left in the parking lot but it was almost full. There are two bathrooms in the parking lot but they were locked for the off season.

Most of the trail is gradual until the stairs after the juncture where the Lake Serene trail splits off. There was almost no snow before the juncture, but there were patches of both slushy and compacted snow on the trail afterwards. The stairs were almost entirely clear. I was glad I brought my microspikes and poles for the way back down, but some of the folks in my group did it without and even in sneakers (very carefully).

I definitely recommend waterproof shoes, because there were many stream crossings.

The waterfall was lovely this time of year - strong but not too much spray to get us wet as we sat and enjoyed it. There are lots of spots to sit and view it. You can also see the mountains out in the distance.

The road was clear and passable for all vehicles, no problem. No flowers yet, and the trees and bushes haven’t leafed out yet. The trail is a mix of fully shady, partially shady, and sunny spots.

Recommend!

Beware of: snow, trail conditions

The hike to the falls was nice. Few people were on the trail. After 1/2 mile or so the trail began to be compact snow. Especially on the stairs it was slick. Our party had microspikes so we managed well but we saw quite a few with sneakers. I don't consider that appropriate to the conditions.  Also the toilets at the trailhead need attention. One was locked and the other looked about ready to overflow. It was a mess and the ranger station will be closed for another week according to their phone message so it's difficult to report it.
