This is a lovely little hike any day, but especially today! ☀️☀️☀️
We arrived 9:15-9:30 and there were a few spots left in the parking lot but it was almost full. There are two bathrooms in the parking lot but they were locked for the off season.
Most of the trail is gradual until the stairs after the juncture where the Lake Serene trail splits off. There was almost no snow before the juncture, but there were patches of both slushy and compacted snow on the trail afterwards. The stairs were almost entirely clear. I was glad I brought my microspikes and poles for the way back down, but some of the folks in my group did it without and even in sneakers (very carefully).
I definitely recommend waterproof shoes, because there were many stream crossings.
The waterfall was lovely this time of year - strong but not too much spray to get us wet as we sat and enjoyed it. There are lots of spots to sit and view it. You can also see the mountains out in the distance.
The road was clear and passable for all vehicles, no problem. No flowers yet, and the trees and bushes haven’t leafed out yet. The trail is a mix of fully shady, partially shady, and sunny spots.
