Took a beautiful 3 hour drive from Olympia and it was worth it. Would not have believed we were still in the "Evergreen" State. ha ha. Canyon trail is easy - wide gravel path; crosses several bridges. Unique rock formations along the trail - looking up and out provides good views. Flowers in bloom - too late for the Balsamroot, though. Hiked up to the winery for a shaded lunch and even more good views. Steep but short; some loose gravel/soil so be careful with footing.

Rattlesnake are out on the trail now with warmer weather, just use caution while hiking... Beyond that trails in great shape and lots of other wildlife out and about, water is running high right bow which makes the hike a bit more scenic also

Such a beautiful day to hike the upper Cowiche Canyon Conservancy. Mid morning hike down into the sweet little valley and then up to the winery trails since it was Spring barrel this past weekend. Stopped at Wilridge and had a taste or two, lunch, and then headed back to the main trailhead. What a great hike.
It was also so nice to see so many families with young children enjoying this beautiful trail system. Even came upon a mother with two tiny boys with backpacks and the essentials teaching them about the trails, foliage, and nature.
Beautiful Spring day!

Excellent day on one of my favorite trails in Washington. Especially this time of year. We escaped the epically rainy day on Saturday and enjoyed partly cloudy skies and temperatures around 60 degrees. The trail is in great shape, highly recommend heading up to the winery for some mid-hike wine tasting! Heads up, the sign is missing at the turn from the main trail but it's easy to follow and is marked on the map.
The arnica were blooming up near the top of the canyon and are almost blooming down in the canyon itself.
