We did a loop ski tour of Glacier Vista, kind of skirted around Panorama Point, went toward McClure Rock and took a break before descending near the Van Trump monument and came out via Edith Creek. We idea was to avoid crowds. Mission accomplished!
The snow is VERY heavy and wet. Kind of impossible to ski so it just turned into a mellow tour day. Snowshoers were also struggling with the heavy snow, most of it balling up or collecting on the bottom of the snowshoe.
Wet loose activity everywhere. & Where there are tees, there are tree bombs
This loop- 5.5 miles and 2000 feet of gain. We know this area well, always use GPS

Gorgeous day for an easy out and back snowshoe on the Golden Gate trail through the Edith Creek Basin. We then had lunch in the sun and headed back. Garmin course below.
The park opened the Longmire gate around 9:30 am with about 10 cars lined up and ready to go. The road was almost completely snow free but vehicles are required to carry chains. Gate closes again at 5:00 pm.
There is some avalanche concerns on both sides of the basin so be aware of in this area and make sure and pick up a winter map at the gate as you enter. The ranger will be happy to furnish one.
The tubing area was also open with four chutes. Park has snow play area well marked signs and requires social distancing in all areas.
Bathrooms at Longmire and Paradise are open but no other services.
What a fun day to be outdoors.

We had to take advantage of the bluebird day so we spent some time snowshoeing up at Edith Creek Basin. We actually stopped just below the final ascent to the top, but had great views from where we were. Ran into some other snowshoers and skiers in the area, but Paradise was, by no means, crowded (it was a Wednesday after all).
This is a great easy snowshoe trail and the snow is nice and deep from the start. But make sure you're aware of avalanche zones and the forecast. Edith Creek is in the vicinity of several avalanche prone areas and we saw some people that were going right through the danger zone.
