We just walked from the parking lot to the picnic area and didn't do the whole loop, but there was no snow on the road in (though there are tons of potholes for the last five minutes of the drive). The picnic area was beautiful and snow-free.

Snow on about 30-35% of the trail (mostly on one side of the loop), with the rest having little to no snow. You could easily do half the loop and then backtrack. If you decide to do the entire loop I’d highly suggest trekking poles.
The road does have some snow/ice patches right at the end, and I saw a nice 4runner get stuck today (luckily it had a wench). I’d suggest parking before the first big patch and walking from there. It really doesn’t add hardly anything to the hike and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Please… if you pack it in, pack it out. Including dog poo. I saw so many discarded bags of dog doo today 😖

Hiked this late afternoon but I found the road to the pond still closed(the NF-4832 road from I-90 to winter trail sign was cleared so I just parked along the road) The weather turned to thunderstorm for about one hour. The snow was very hard packed , some spots more than 1 feet deep, you can easily post hole on the snow. It’s better to put on sturdy hiking shoes with gaiters , trekking poles will help too. Maybe the upcoming warm weather will change the trail conditions a lot, but it’s always good to get prepared. I saw two unprepared groups of people just wearing running shoes and even sandals( one of the group is taking wedding photos at the lake). The temperature here was 20 degrees lower than Seattle. I took a loop walk around the lake , one of the paved path could lead you to the middle of the lake, pretty fun. The viewpoint at picnic area was gorgeous even with foggy weather. The restroom was closed at original trailhead.

The road is still closed but snow is rapidly melting. The walk to the parking lot is still snowy, but the picnic area by the lake is all melted out now.
we walked around the lake and the trail is partly paved, partly snow covered covered. Some snow bridges over actual bridges are melting out and kind sketchy.
Lots of garbage everywhere. I wish we had brought a bag to help clean up. Also pink confetti and fake flower petals. Such a bummer, will def bring bags to help clean up next time I’m there.
I was here last weekend too and there’s significantly less snow already. Melting so fast!
