Drove up road#4315
hoping to start hiking at the road end. At about 4700 feet, just past the second from last road switchback there is a locked road barricade because of logging in progress. That adds about 3/4 mile of dusty road hiking before the trail head. However the logging is occurring on a branch road so that hikers do not encounter any activity. The weather was beautiful, cool a.m. and partly overcast p.m. The trail shows sign of having recently been logged out with fresh water bars. There are wildflowers, but they are past their prime. Lots of deer and coyote tracks and some bear scat also horseshoe tracks, but no sign of dirt bikes which often come up the West Fork Teanaway trail. The usual great views on top. Unfortunately there is graffitti dated Aug. 7 at the former lookout site on the summit. Saw no one else all day - a surprise for a Saturday. MRK
