I watched the forecast all week, looking for a campsite with the lowest chance of rain and hit the jackpot. You will find solitude in the campground this time of year. Felt like low 40slast night, but when you’re car camping, you can bring everything you need to stay warm. Chipmunks, woodpeckers and lots of pretty fall colors. If you walk on every trail, you can hike a few flat miles.

Lake Wenatchee is a great leg stretcher if you happen to be taking US 2 for a road trip like I was. The trails on the north side are still pretty snow covered but do not require spikes, just boots with decent traction. The trail is muddy where the snow has melted. The bathroom and port a potties are open and stocked. The view you've probably seen on Instagram is a brief walk onto the beach from the south entrance. A very beautiful place and worth the 10 minute detour!

Stopped for a quick hike in the sun on my way to Leavenworth. I did the North Park option, and it was lovely. There were quite a few cars in the parking lot, but I only saw one couple on the snowshoe route the whole time I was there, so I assume the cars belonged to cross country skiers.
The trail was SUPER icy, so microspikes were a necessity. There are patches of the trail that are no longer snow-covered, so I think snowshoes would be a bit much. In fact, one of the snowshoers I passed said as much.
Great views of the river, the lake, and (I think) Dirty Face. I also saw some trees that had been pretty chewed or pecked up by something. Initially I thought it was a woodpecker, but it was really low on the trees so I don’t know. I’ll post a pic and would love if someone could tell me what it was!

We hiked the South Park snowshoe trail. We did not need snowshoes, but we had spikes which were very helpful in some of the areas with a little elevation. It was a pretty trail along the river, lake, and through the forest. Our 5 year old daughter did it with no problems. She also wore spikes. The sledding trails is near the parking lot as well. You will need the sno park pass and the groomed trail pass. Bathrooms were open and clean.
