As usual lost at Lord Hill. Why we have so much trouble going from point A to point B is a bit of a mystery, but in talking with a lady who has been hiking there for 20 yrs and still gets lost, I think I finally have a clue. When we first started hiking here, there were much fewer trails and most were marked on the maps. You could be pretty sure of where you were going in a roundabout way. Now there is a maze of trails, the maps at various points in the park are completely out of date, and most of the trails are unsigned. One wrong turn and you're doomed.  Now an exploring ramble is fun, unless you're on a time limit, so be forewarned. For example, the dot that says You Are Here, and you go left to Temple Pond, and you go left, pass Dragonfly Pond, then you see Temple, then keep hiking around and there's a sign for English Pond? But on the map English Pond is out of the park and to the north? What? We must have really gotten mixed up. Yeah next time I bring a compass, but even then I don't think it would help, north is the parking lot, south is the river, Pipeline runs north-south for the most part, Main trail is an old road that wanders here and there on the west side of the Pipeline. Confused? Well welcome to Lord Hill!! I took a picture of the map at the TH, which seems to be pretty up to date, I recommend printing it out and not relying on your phone like we did. It's easier to keep a map handy. GPS? Well what's the fun in that, the Lord Hill Bandit would not be pleased that you made it so easy

Carried the baby on a little loop from the main parking lot down the Main Trail across to Temple Pond and back up past Beaver Pond.  Lots of mountain bikes out and about, so be aware.  Arrived in the lot at 930 with lots of open spaces, but it was full when I left at 11:30.  The loop I did was about 3.5 miles.

Me and my dog did six miles on these trails. As long as we were on the main road it was easy to know where we were, once we stepped off the main trail it required some basic map reading skills. Going down to the river is a must, the River is mild warm and shallow so we waded right in. Two people I ran into did not have there dogs on a leash, that was a bit of a problem for my unfriendly dog. Overall it’s great for people of all skills whether you want to do an easy mile or step up for ten.

Parked at the north lot. Took Boardwalk Trail to Beaver Lake Trail. Tried Wayne's World Trail for the first time. Took the first left, looped down and back up before it met the small pond on the map. The loop around was not on the map, but it was easily the most visible trail. Next we took Ear Therapy to the very north side where it connected with Easy 8. These trails were in great condition and kept the dogs in the shade. We then connected to Red Barn Trail. Beaver Lake looked dried up from our side. We accessed Temple Pond from the northeast side, which was a great chance for dogs to drink and wade around. Tried finding South Temple Pond Loop Trail that would take us South on the east side of the lake, but no luck. We took Temple Pond Loop north, then back south on Sherwood Forest to Marsh Lake Loop to Loren's Ridge to Pipeline. Sherwood and Marsh Lake were very narrow and overgrown, but doable. Next we tried East Fishing Access, which seems to be too overgrown to get to the river. The trail further west had narrow access to the river. Just larger enough for the pups to swim a little, but the horses ahead of us did not make it. A lake in the Quarry Trail area was another good water stop for dogs.

This is my favorite place for quick day hikes. The various interconnecting trails and footpaths allow you to create your own franken-hike, and every time I go I always end up doing something different. Plus, it's far enough away from any major roads that there's relatively little noise pollution.
