When I got to LH there was a tent set up in the parking lot. It was nearing the end of a trail run and they said there were only a couple runners left. I never saw any runners and as usual, only saw a couple of hikers and a few mountain bikers.

I wore my winter hiking boots. Kept my feet warm and dry and gave all the traction I needed in the soft, sometimes slushy snow.

It rained, it shined, it was the perfect dose of fresh air.

Just a head's up that the trail system has a lot of very slippery compact snow and ice. Tried walking this morning and turned around after 1/4 mile and several near falls. Would be fine with micro spikes.

I want to thank the wonderful snowshoers who blazed a trail for us hikers this morning! My friend and I were able to navigate the narrow paths and do about 3 miles from the North Entrance. The parking lot has about 8 to 10 inches of snow as does the equestrian entrance. If you have snowshoes, I would recommend them, but we did okay in our waterproof hiking boots. Fun morning in the snow!

Parked in the south lower lot. The road there was snowy but definitely driveable. Most trails had 2” of powder on them but were fairly easy to navigate and move on. I’d recommend trekking poles if you plan to use the main trail that cuts through the heart of the park, that one was steep and I was grateful to have them with me.
