When I got to LH there was a tent set up in the parking lot. It was nearing the end of a trail run and they said there were only a couple runners left. I never saw any runners and as usual, only saw a couple of hikers and a few mountain bikers.
I wore my winter hiking boots. Kept my feet warm and dry and gave all the traction I needed in the soft, sometimes slushy snow.
It rained, it shined, it was the perfect dose of fresh air.

I drove up there today to see how much snow is left. Parking lot is completely clear, still slush in the horse parking. After looking at the slush and mud on the trail, I decided to bag it again. (I can deal with mud, but don't like hiking in slush.)
Thanks for the report and pics - I'm think, for me, it will have to wait.
*and if anyone has taken the Midway - how has that fared?

I didn’t hit the Midway but Swamp Gas was in good shape. I found the snow easy to walk in. The hill from the TH to the boardwalks had enough dirt showing that it was no problem. The slickest spot was the hill from the Main trail down to the boardwalks. I noticed quite a few big leaf maple lost their big branches under the weight of the heavy moss and snow. Beautiful and quiet today. Lots of little brown birds chirping and signs of woodpecker debris on the snow.

It looks like from your pictures that there still is a fair amount of snow up there! I'm signed up for a work party there on Friday, I hope it's GONE by then!

I can’t imagine what a work party would do in all that snow. I predict a whole lot of mud when it melts. Thanks for volunteering!
