Wanted some fresh air without going too far from home. Trails are in great shape after all the wind and rain. Occasional mud on the side trails. Easy for me and my little dogs to get around.

Another meandering through Lord Hill. This time took the Beaver Lake Trail to Old Barn that met up with the Temple Pond Loop. Startled some deer while searching for fungi. Great day to play in the rain! ^_^

This is a vast and beautiful area. One of the first things I noticed were the variations of fungi present, but also a plethora of moss-draped trees and bright green foliage. I hiked this with my daughter in a baby carrier, and we went with a small group of other parents, also carrying toddlers or babies. We did have a map (as well as GPS) available to us, but the trails were not at all well-marked. Thanks to some good samaritan, we did see a hand-crafted map made from leather pinned to a tree at one trail intersection. That helped us navigate our route. The trails are actually quite poorly marked, but regardless of where you end up, you will find a beautiful experience.

Just a quick hike out to Lord Hill this afternoon to squeeze in some last minute Hike-A-Thon miles. I hiked the Main Trail out to the Temple Pond Loop and back to the Main Trail with a trip to the viewpoint off of the Pipeline Connector trail. All together I estimate that this is about a 4.5 mile out-and-back hike. It was a quiet hike-I only saw a few other people out at the park today. The trails at Lord Hill appear to be in good shape despite the rain and wind we received yesterday. I observed several broken trees that had already been cut and moved off of the trail. Thank you to the people or organization that cleared the trails! There were a couple of spots along the Temple Pond Loop that had larger trees still down but I was able to get around them pretty easily. All in all just a quiet day for a quick afternoon hike.
