Beware of: trail conditions

What a lovely park for a quick hike or trail run. The foot trails were small and covered with leaves so it could be easy to get a little lost but there are trail signs and even a few maps throughout the park on the main trails. "Evidence" of horses wasn't too bad. ;)

Great hike to start the new year. We encountered mud and water over parts of the trail, but nothing that prevented us from trekking onward. We hiked the Beaver Lake and the Temple Loop trails and loved every minute of it.

Beware of: trail conditions

For my last hike of 2013 I chose to head out to Lord Hill Park because I am very familiar with it and it's a nice place to hike when you don't have the time to get all the way out to the mountains. I hiked the Beaver Pond Trail to the Pipeline Trail, then along the Temple Pond Loop back to the Pipeline Trail, then followed the Pipeline Connector back to the Main Trail and the parking lot. According to the maps posted throughout the park, this route is about a 5 mile loop. All of the trails are in great shape right now with no obstacles to note. There is a little bit of mud in some places but nothing that can't be navigated around.

Cloudy and Sunny Christmas Eve hike. I've ran these trails many times and it my go to for a quick hike. Took a friend here for their second time and hiked different trails. Had an USGS map, Snohomish County Parks map, and a Cascade Orienteering Club map. Always helpful when taking people who have never been and deciding routs and of course safety! Started at the Snohomish entrance and took a left and the first fork onto the Beaver Lake trail down to Pipeline Trail keeping to the left heading towards Beaver Lake. Hiked South on pipeline Trail and came to a low spot where water running over the trail draining to the east. We stopped at the map at the Southern intersection of Pipeline and Temple Pond loop. A large gravel pile is here, I believe for future trail work parties. Continued South on Pipeline trail and there is a bench at the location of the Pipeline Cut off trail. Headed west on the cut off trail until we came across the small trail that heads south to the view point at 630'. Took a rest on the rocks here and had water and a snack. Headed back down to cut off trail and towards the main trail to the North West. Came across mud and water on the trail on main trail. This location is known for water but you are able to get around it. Explained the hash marks on the trees at the intersection of main trail (aka Red Road going up the hill) and pipeline cut off trail. Continued along main trail towards the Snohomish entrance, met a hiker who saw a deer to the west just before the corner to turn right following the main trail back to the Snohomish entrance via the board walks. Overall it was a good hike with partly sunny skies, a little mud and water in places. Did almost the same route when I took two other friends here for the first time one month prior.

As always, this is a nice place for a short hike, with real woods, some hills and not that crowded. I checked out the most northerly, 'west viewpoint' and was pretty disappointed in the lack of view - apparently the vegetation has grown up to block it even in mid-winter. The southern viewpoint is better. The woods along the Pipeline cutoff trail are particularly lovely.
