There was quite a bit of snow on the road on the way up. We managed it with chains until about 1.5 miles from the trailhead, where downed trees blocked further progress. After pulling off the road and parking, we hiked to the trailhead and made our way up the trail. The trail was snow-covered all the way up, so progress was slower than normal. None of us had snowshoes, though they would have been nice for the last couple miles. We made it to within a mile of the summit before we decided to turn around to make it back before dark.

Attempted to make it to Mount Townsend and enjoy the nice clear day. Unfortunately, both the upper and lower trailheads are blocked by fallen trees from the recent bomb cyclone. Someone had clearly come through and started the job as there were many cut trees along the sides, but we were stopped about 3 miles from the upper trailhead. We could see at least 4 manageable sized trees blocking the road, but there may be more further down.
The snow on the road up to that point was manageable in my Crosstrek (one person in our group made it in a sedan), so it's really the trees that are the problem.

Road in great condition, mostly paved with some potholes that are easily navigable by taking it slow.
Pit toilet is locked up for the season. Trail in great condition, one fallen tree to be stepped around. Small patches of snow encountered and easily stepped around but will likely change with the next rounds of precipitation rolling through the next week. Great end of season hike.

Got to the upper TH around 10am with plenty of parking available. The bathroom was locked and appeared to not have anyone in it, so I think it may be closed, alas.
My dog and I went in 3 miles and turned around just because I wasn't feeling well that day. Snow starts maybe a mile in and becomes consistent as you get further. I didn't use microspikes, but if I'd gone further I would have put them on - would have sped up the downhill. The snow was packed down on the trail up to where we turned around.
