Quick and relatively easy hike. The grade is very smooth all the way up and not too rocky. You can extend it a little bit by following the road from Mount Walker North (where the trail ends) to Mount Walker South to get a view of the Sound.

Trail is in great condition. Very tame birds at the top that have clearly been fed by people and will sometimes swoop near you for food.

Mt. Walker is one of those NW hikes that stuns with its beauty in every season for different reasons. Today, the fog hung in the trees on this late-summer day. At the top, the olympic peaks poked out of the top of the low-hanging clouds. As always, it was a tough stair-climber to the top, but certainly worth the reward of the look-out at the top. I recommend this hike for any occasion.

This is a great shorter hike with a nice variety of views in every direction from both viewpoints.   The trail is a fairly consistent incline.   It took us (2 adults in fair shape)  1 hour 10 minutes to get up the trail to the first viewpoint.  After checking out the south viewpoint we headed back down the trail.  Total time up and back was 2 hours and 40 minutes.  We encountered about 20 people on the trail on this Labor Day weekend morning.

This was my 2nd time on this trail and my first time using hiking poles to help with knee pain when hiking.  After getting past the annoyance of the poles in my hands I have to say that they did make the hike easier, both up and down.

Trail and road were in great condition. Beautiful hike and both viewpoints are well worth it. Make sure you check out both!

First time doing this hike and it was definitely good for our conditioning!! Constant 10-20% grade with very few flat stretches. Views from the top are definitely worth the hike!!
