Great day hike! I would imagine hiking this while Rhododendrons bloom would be spectacular as they are everywhere! We had the trail mostly to ourselves. As described in the description the elevation gain is 2000ft in 2 miles...very good exercise hike! We had hazy views on both north and south sides. The camp robbers (GreyJays) were out in full force and suprised my husband by stealing a little piece of apple right from his hand. Obviously, hikers and sight seeers feed these birds on a regular basis...so be careful with your snacks!
This was my second time doing Walker. The first time was this past March and when I got to the top I found the views to be worth the work. It's 2 hours going up a relatively steep grade, for me. In March, I was warm at the bottom and freezing at the top. This August, I was warm at the bottom and chilly at the top as it was cloudy and drizzling. The jay birds at the summit are annoying so keep your snacking concealed.

Wow! What a quick fun hike. This hike is not for the faint of heart though it is steep(signs at the trail said about 20% grade most of the time) but it is a very rewarding hike on a clear day there are several views at both the north and south look out at the top. From the north lookout you can see out over the straight of Juan De Fuca and from the sounds you over look the hood canal, Seattle and Mount Rainier. It took my wife and I, with me carrying my 7 month daughter in a back carrier and hour and a half to reach the top with a few short rests. And 40 minutes to get back to the bottom where the truck was parked. The trail was in great condition, there was plenty of parking and the bugs only started to swarm a little if you paused for a short period on the trail and were standing still. Make sure to bring plenty of water though there is no water source anywhere along the trail and on a warm day you will want it as this hike will make you work to reach the top!
