Despite starting under cloud cover and the threat of rain, we were treated to blue skies and gorgeous views of the Olympics in the distance. The trail is snow-covered for about the last half mile, but unless it snows again no traction devices are needed. At the top, make sure you head over to the South peak as well as the North--the South peak was fogged in for us, but there should be some nice views on a clearer day. I would also suggest arriving early if you go on a weekend to avoid having to park on the shoulder of the highway.

A great blood-pumper to break up the last leg back to PA of my weekend drive around the Peninsula. A little longer and steeper than I thought it would be but a fun jaunt up to the top. Was way too rainy and foggy to get any views but I for one am a huge fan of staring out into the vast ambiguous gray. A few minor blowdowns but none too tough too cross. The smallest, most minor remnants of the previous week's snow began to appear in the last stretch of trail before the top. The kiosks, lookout railings, and picnic tables had a dusting of snow on them but nothing worth worrying about for hiking conditions.

Wonderful quick heart pumping hike to a vast view of Port Townsend, Sequim and beyond. Many Rhododendrons blanket the slopes and should be a great spring hike when in bloom. Cold and blustery at the top; but was February! Good fast workout with a fabulous view if your in the area. Don't feed the wildlife, please!

Hiked up the trail and down the road. Both were is great condition. There were about 3 down trees on the train but they were easy to get over. There was a small leftover patch of snow at the top. No need for micro spikes. It was a beautiful day!
