We began this hike at the north parking area on a calm, cool morning with overcast skies. It was high tide and the bay was glass, beautifully reflecting the clouds. The north parking area is a smooth, gravel lot with plenty of parking, at least on a weekday. There is also a port-a-potty at this lot, and had hand sanitizer when we were there. From the parking lot, one must walk a short distance crossing the very un-busy Bayview Edison Road to get to the actual trail. The trail is wide with open views in all directions. We saw abundant bird life, this being prime season for winter migrants: Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Northern Harriers, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, and all the little birds. We walked all the way to the south parking lot and then back. This is such a pleasant walking trail, perfect for kids and dog walking.
If pizza and beer is your jam, the Terramar Brewstillery in Edison is pretty good.

Aimed for a walk that would not be under a canopy of trees on this windy day. Started at the south trailhead with only two more cars there. Great stroll on a flat gravel trail despite ferocious winds; nice views of the bay and the mountains. The trail is dry, wide, and pleasantly clean. Spotted a heron, a bald eagle, and a few ducks. Return walk against the wind gusts up to 45 mph was really strenuous.

We started at the south end along Indian Slough. This was a nice late autumn walk without being concerned with extra equipment for going up into the mountains this time of year. Along the way there were lots of herons doing heron things-standing in water, walking in drainage, hunting and looking regal. The fog was lifting and Mount Baker made an appearance in a mix of blue and grey sky before the fog came in again on our return trip.
The porta-potty at the south trailhead is open, clean and well stocked.
We started from the south trail head (2.2 from north trail head). The south trail head had a clean handicap size Porta John. We didn’t see a Porta John at the North trail head, but we didn’t venture to the North trailhead parking lot.
The trail is in excellent condition. And there were plenty of super tasty blackberries to pick along this easy, flat walk/trail.
Be prepared for wind & sun due to minimal tree or shrub coverage or shelter.
Definitely dog friendly, bicycle easy access, and likely handicap accessible.
