We began this hike at the north parking area on a calm, cool morning with overcast skies. It was high tide and the bay was glass, beautifully reflecting the clouds. The north parking area is a smooth, gravel lot with plenty of parking, at least on a weekday. There is also a port-a-potty at this lot, and had hand sanitizer when we were there. From the parking lot, one must walk a short distance crossing the very un-busy Bayview Edison Road to get to the actual trail. The trail is wide with open views in all directions. We saw abundant bird life, this being prime season for winter migrants: Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Northern Harriers, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, and all the little birds. We walked all the way to the south parking lot and then back. This is such a pleasant walking trail, perfect for kids and dog walking.
If pizza and beer is your jam, the Terramar Brewstillery in Edison is pretty good.
