Did this short trail on New Year’s Eve. Road is snow free up to the parking lot, the parking lot is plowed but had some ice, and there was about 1/2 foot of snow to plow through to get to the parking lot. I made it in my sedan just revving up and going for it. There’s no room to park on the side of the road.
The trail is snow covered, but compact. Just uneven to walk on. We didn’t use snowshoes or spikes and were fine.
Beautiful trail!

Super fun but short snowshoe hike, less than 1 mile! The snow was about a foot deep so snowshoeing was easier than just trying to walk it. There are a lot of boardwalks along the way, several interpretive signs, and nice benches for sitting and looking up at the trees soaring into the clouds above.

Trail is easy to follow even though no tracks were visible in the fresh snow. No downed trees or debris to navigate.  Lots of birds out and about (wrens, juncos, jays, woodpeckers). The towering evergreens are even more impressive when their dark trunks are contrasted with the white snow.

Outhouse was open and clean though smelly and very little TP.

The only difficulty was the parking.  The parking area has not been plowed.  Not wanting to park on the side of the road (the shoulders were not plowed either and the road isn’t all that wide) we decided to bulldoze through the snowplow berm with our AWD SUV.  Yup, we got stuck, but we brought a shovel and managed to get out rather easily.

NOTE: This is considered a “snow park” area according to the Washington State Parks website, however, no snow park pass or permit is required.

This is a great option for anyone who can't go very far for whatever reason. Though it has gotten pretty "rooty" and would be difficult for someone with a walker or something like it. Trip report (a little "tale of two trails") below for you to enjoy. :)

Did this trail after visiting Baker lake.

Arrived at the TH around 10:45 am, with 3 other cars in the lot. The bathrooms are open and clean, but out of TP, bring your own. Though we did see rangers servicing the bathrooms at a stop a little ways down the road, so they probably restocked the bathrooms later the same day and we just beat them.

This is very similar to Grove of the patriarchs, easy, with big beautiful trees. Most of it is boardwalk, and a few paved sections.

Saw some huckleberries along the trail, not sure if they are ripe though.

The trees are beautiful, and massive, the boardwalk takes you right up to the largest ones.

This was a great family hike for all abilities. We didn't run into anyone else on trail. I think most use the lot to pull over and take breaks/use the bathrooms. So we had the trail to ourselves which was awesome. Our pups loved it too.

Very easy, really short with some awesome trees. Worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for an easy adventure.

This is our often walked trail when doing a road trip in the area of Baker Lake. As usual it is followed by lunch in Concrete. The boardwalk has been repaired since we were here in March so now you can do the entire loop.
