Did a quick loop among these towering giants on my way up to camping at Baker Lake. Privy open and in good condition and had the trail to myself. Downed tree noted in the most recent trip report has been removed and was able to easily make the loop unencumbered.

The Baker Lake Road is in good condition but there is evidence that a lot of downed trees had been removed. We planned to do the trail counterclockwise but just past the Y there is a tree across the trail so we went left instead. We did the loop all the way to the downed tree again and then went back the same way. More bang for our buck, so to speak.
We followed up with lunch at the 5b's in Concrete.

Wonderful short interpretive trail near Baker Lake. Most of the trail is boardwalk and paved with one short section of fresh gravel, with some benches built into the boardwalk about half way through. Toilets at the trailhead are clean and in good condition. Wonderful for a walk among the old giants!

A road trip and lunch took us along Baker Lake Road and then Concrete. We checked out the Sentinels trail and were very surprised by the amount of downed trees there, broken off and uprooted. In fact the number of uprooted trees was amazing and they had caused a lot of damage to the trail. near the fork in the trail a whole section of the boardwalk has been replaced right down to the concrete footings. The trail is made to be accessible to wheelchairs and strollers but there is a section now where the trail has been damaged enough by an uprooted tree that a wheelchair would not get through. This can be avoided by taking a left at the fork. Even though you are going against the arrows I don't think that will be a problem for anyone. There has been a lot of restoration already accomplished, kudos to whoever they are.

We did a road trip looking for a suitable walk for my partner recovering from knee surgery. She also needed to to get her "mountain fix" in. Going out Highway-20 and then the Baker Lake Road. Along the way there are some great views of Mount Baker. We did the Shadow of the Sentinels trail and wandered among the giant trees. It is a 0.5 mile loop which fit the bill perfectly towards recovery. We also checked out some of the campgrounds along Baker Lake Road and then backtracked on the road and went into Concrete via the Burpee Hill Road. We had lunch at the 5-Bees Bakery/Café in their outside dining area.
