What a beautiful hike! The walk through the farm land with the views of the ocean were stunning! My only issue was that there were flying beetles and bees everywhere. The hike was very easy. We did not end up traveling down to the beach at the end of the hike because we didn't think the switchbacks back up were worth it.

I'm sorry to insult the TR that is given on this website, but I did find it perplexing; at least the one for Ebey's Landing. It does seem like it should at least say something about the Jacob Ebey House, since you have to go right by it. Hopefully my post will help any others who tend to over think things and confuse easily. Click on the link below; lots of great pics on my blog!!

Before heading out we fueled up at the Mukilteo Coffee Roasters Cafe. We began at the Ebey's Landing trail on the beach and headed north along the shore. To the west there appeared to be a wall of rain over Port Townsend that was moving southeast. We were just enough north that we only had a few sprinkles while being in the sun. A little over 1.7 miles we took the trail up to Perego's Bluff and headed south two hundred feet above Perego's Lake and Admiralty Inlet. There are lots of wild flowers out. The bluff slope is streaked with purple Woolly Vetch with patches of Oregon Grape, Queen Anne's Lace and Yellow Sand-Verbena (many thanks to Anna Roth for the identification).

WOW! We were headed up to a some Deception Pass area hiking when a WI local suggested we instead head to Ebey's Landing. What a perfect recommendation. We were warned about the crowds, but this is no Mt. Si. Yes, there was a long strip of cars parked along the road, spilling out of the parking lot, but we felt almost alone on the trail. We headed up the bluff first (do this!). Sweeping views of the Olympics and Juan de Fuca. We could even see Rainier. Wildflowers everywhere. Go on a sun filled day to appreciate this view. The trail is along the bluff, with grass and flowers on both sides. Eventually the trail veers left down to the beach. There is a rather steep part that we took very slowly. Its doable, but it feels a bit like your feet will slide out from under you. The walk back feels fast, and is along the beach. Beach is part soft sand, part hard sand, part rocks, so you take your pick on which you want to walk on. Exposure: mostly totally exposed. bring your sunscreen Footwear: whatever you feel comfortable in, one of us was wearing running shoes, no problems Bugs: None Car: all roads paved

Seeking some sunshine, I gambled on the Olympic rain shadow and won. It was pouring buckets in Bothell, but by the time the dogs and I got to Ebey's Landing, it was sunny and warm. I didn't realize that there were two parking lots for this trail, so I parked by the cemetery. I did not see any signage indicating a pass was necessary, but I put my Discover Pass up just in case. While there were some parties on the earlier portion of the trail, it was just me and the dogs after I got about a quarter mile up the Bluff Trail. This is a great hike, with lovely views of the Olympics and Admiralty Inlet. Wildflowers are going crazy right now, and droning bees make a nice counterpoint to the waves coming in below the bluff. The only wildlife I spotted was a small flock of sand pipers down on the beach.
