Fairly easy flat hike for the family, the last 1/4 mile had about half the total elevaton gain. Take your time and rest, very pretty at the top but there's not much room to rest.

Nothing to add trail-wise from the previous post, but just be aware that there is a man that appears to be living in the parking lot at the north trailhead, taking up about half the parking lot with several tents and his car.  He has a loose dog that was more aggressive than I would like.  It started charging my car, pretty much right after crossing the bridge and wouldn't go away, barking angrily.  The guy did eventually come get him and apologized.  He seemed polite enough, claiming the dog was a 'Lover, not a Biter' but it's demeanor didn't seem to fit a friendly dog.  I definitely waited until the owner had him in hand before opening my door.

Upon returning to my car, kind of the same thing, the dog didn't appear happy to see me, but I was parked across the road from the lot - along the road itself, so we were able to get to our car, before the dog.

I hiked from the north trailhead to the trail for the falls and back. Great flat hike although muddy in places this time of year. Nothing impassable.
Lovely views of the river. Trail well maintained and cleared of winter trees.

Trail to the falls was also kinda wet but not muddy or slippery. Ground was a bit loose.

Pretty big potholes in the road. my small hatchback was ok but not a great road for all cars.

There seemed to be a steady stream of cars on SR410, so I opted to start from the southern trailhead and take a longer stroll. Pulled in around 9:15am on a great spring Saturday and only had 1 other car there. (Another pulled in as I started walking, space for about 6-8 cars)

The trail itself is well maintained, except for a few long-term errosion spots where it bends back toward the river. A few big blow downs that are easy to go around have a ton of mud around them, so watch your steps. The scramble up to the falls is intense both up and down, but do-able for most people!

Crossed paths with a few people/groups and dogs. Enough to discourage animals, but not crowded by any means.

We had a great spring hike today to Skookum Falls, starting from Buck Creek FS Rd 7160. We pulled in at 10:00, the parking area is filled with large potholes and 3 cars were already there. It was mostly sunny skies and 48 degrees. There are no vault toilets here. We headed north in the magical forest, lush green mossy forest floor, cushion duff trail surface for most of the trail and the White River’s rushing thunder filling your ears. The entire route is saturated soil mostly well draining. The trail became a stream for 10’ in a couple areas. Easy to navigate with hiking poles so you didn’t soak your boots. There were wind blown and deadfall trees over the trail in a couple areas. Paths have been foraged over, under or around these. Skookum Falls appeared to be at maximum flow. Absolutely gorgeous, we sat down for a great lunch / rest break to take the view at 12:35. Trail traffic was super light we only saw 2 people the entire time we were out. No spring wildflowers yet, but several bird species calling in the forest. We retraced our steps for an 8.3 mile hike. Temperatures warmed up and it was 58 when we drove off at 3:25. Another fantastic day out in nature with friends.
