Road increasingly covered by snow starting about 1/4 mile after turning off of Highway 101. Made it to the intersection of NF 25 and Forest Rd 2480 where there was approximately 8-10" of snow and could not continue in our car (4 wheel drive Dodge Durango). There were multiple low clearance and or front wheel drive vehicles stuck in the snow that had to be pushed/pulled out on our way up the road before we turned around.

It was a solid day of rain with intermittent fog on the Lower Lena Lake trail for this Black Friday. Despite the tall trees throughout, you get doused when it rains. I got to test all the rain gear and new waterproof mittens. The parking lot had some lingering patches of ice but no snow or ice remained on the trail from the dumping a couple weeks ago and the bathrooms are stocked. The doors don't close well. Who cares. We're headed into another snow system and Hamma Hamma Rd. gets bad when it snows. Be ready to turn back. A great alternative if you have to turn back is Mt. Walker. It's not too far. Happy trekking!
