Lots of people at Sunrise due to National Parks 100th Anniversary but, once on the trail, met few hikers. Beautiful views! Quiet and peaceful.

This is a wonderful hike that begins at Sunrise Visitor Center (get there early for good parking as it gets busy fast!). It's a short hike up the trail to the top of the peak with unobstructed views in all directions. The sun was shining so it was a perfect day! We could see Mt. Adams, Grand Park, and Freemont Lookout Tower from the top. The bugs were horrible at the top and it's not that big so we all just shuffled around until we found a windy side to help blow them away. We ate lunch up there but it was difficult with all the bugs, even with bug spray, so we didn't hang out as long as we'd hoped. My 6 and 9 year old girls had no problems getting to the top. Overall, a great hike that's pretty easy and the views are amazing!

Took the day off work and decided to head down to Sunrise for the day. I had planned to hike the Burroughs Mountain Trail, but when I was driving up I noticed Adams was out, so upon arriving at Sunrise I started hiking east to try to get a photo with Rainier and Adams. About 2 miles later I wound up at the top of Dege Peak... then went and did Burroughs Mountain trail, too. An awesome, awesome day. Overall was a reasonably easy hike. Well marked and in good condition, with awesome views at the top - could see all the way out to Mount Baker. Wildflowers are starting to make their appearance. The bugs were out in force, though - particularly at the top. I'd strongly recommend some sort of bug spray if you're planning on hanging out at the top at all.

We hiked to Dege Peak and were not bothered by bugs until we sat down for lunch at the Peak. Otherwise this was a wonderful hike with stupendous views. We did not see any goats until we took the sourdough ridge trail back to the junction to head back to sunrise. There was a nanny with two kids in the meadow below. The only downside to our visit was the condition of the bathrooms at Sunrise. At 10 am the garbage cans were overflowing and the towel dispensers were empty. To say nothing of the filthyness. We met one ranger on the sidewalk who had a scowl on his face and would not even look at us or say "hello". I know there are cutbacks in the Park Service but these are the front lines of the Park Service and they need to show us they deserve better funding.

A relatively easy hike with some elevation near the peak. This was a beautiful sunny day and we got stunning views of the majestic Rainier. Took us roughly 50 minutes from the Sunrise parking lot to the peak. Hike is much easier while descending. We started from the parking lot and views were really amazing, throughout the hike. We were lucky to see few mountain goats too! Do consider this hike if you are looking for an easy hike. The visitor center has free binoculars facing the Rainier.
