Nice and easy hike. This would be a great hike for beginners - the elevation is steady until the last 1/10 of a mile, then it increases a bit (but it's only .10 miles...easy)! Great views on both sides along the way. The end of this trail has a great view of the green valley below and Mt. Rainier feels up close and personal. Can be crowded on a weekend, so get there early.

Beautiful, quick hike. Dusty lots of windflowers! Glad to hit it early before the thunderstorms were due!

Sunrise parking lot looked full from Dege Peak around 11:00 am Saturday. Wildflowers are beginning to bloom. We hiked to Antler then Dege Peak and waited for the clouds to clear. When they didn't, we opted for a wildflower scavenger hunt heading along the peak across the ridge up to Frozen Lake and then down to Sunrise Camp. A snow field remains in the bowl just below the lake. My husband actually approached some people taking selfies in the meadows and told them to get out of the meadow and stay on the trail, so unlike him. Total trip 7.75 miles. We saw a few mountain goats too!

On the evening of the 4th, I hiked from Sunrise to Dege Peak and then down to Sunrise Point. The whole trail is snow-free except for one or two tiny little patches. Views from the top were great, and I was tempted to go to Sunrise Lake, but I started very late. I walked back along the road and got to see a bear cub cross the road and climb a tree. Thankfully, I never encountered mama bear :)

Beautiful day to bag two easy summits at the Sunrise area of Mount Rainier National Park: Dege and Antler peaks. We arrived at Sunrise at about 10:30am and found plenty of parking in the main lot. Hiked up the trail to Dege Peak: no obstacles except for a patch of snow (about 20 ft) which was easy to cross. Trail is in great shape. This trail wasn't very busy at all, but traffic was definitely picking up by the time we were on our way back down. Made a side trip up the hill to bag Antler Peak on the way back: no real trail, but not too difficult to find a route to the top. The parking lot at Sunrise had filled up completely when we returned; guess most of those people must have headed over towards Burroughs Mountain or something? We really lucked out with some great weather and had an excellent day at the park today!
