Trail is in great shape all the way through Fisher camp. Slick logs over one crossing, but water level is manageable. One small patch of snow melting out toward the top of the pass. Makes for a skinny trail for about 10 yards.
TH facilities were due for service when I arrived. Some surface shitter opted for just west of the established facility, not far from the picnic bench. Sad!

The trail is logged out (thanks!) and creek crossings are reasonable. There are a few patches of snow towards the top, most of which are easily crossed or bypassed. There is one slightly tricky patch that either requires following the moat above the snow field (it's tight in one section) or cutting the switch back to bypass altogether (pretty steep). I preferred the moat, but I think it will hopefully be melted out soon either way.
I had never been to Easy Pass. Some pretty epic views for 7 miles RT of work.

The larches were definitely beyond peak, a few golden, some brown, some bare. Some huckleberry color but also beyond peak. If you can arrive from the east I would highly recommend. Driving through Newhalem and past Diablo Lake was awful. Smoke was thick and dark. With windows closed and air on recirculate, my throat and eyes were still burning. It was still a decent day in the mountains.

Fall color is positively popping, even in the woods, and larches are at peak. Now is a great time to go, on a day that isn't smoky.
The air was awful at Diablo (smelled like evil campfire and the sky was yellowish-gray) but cleared up in the east. We got one of the last parking spots at 12:45. It smelled like smoke as the 120-ish AQI cloud rolled in, but aside from slightly louder wheezing, it didn't make breathing or hiking more difficult. It made it look sort of overcast, but you could still see blue sky, especially at higher elevations. All the streams are very low so crossing is no problem. From the talus slope to the pass is a real thigh-burner, but at least the trail is obvious. Nothing too sketchy, but don't rush that section going down. The pikas were meeping adorably. Most of the berries are gone but I saw a few. I'd say it's about as difficult as Mt. Si, maybe slightly more difficult with the steep final push.
We could kind of see the valleys to the south and west when we got to the top, but the view was faint due to the smoke. Very Lord of the Rings-esque, or Elden Ring-esque with the larches.
We were up in 2 hours 45 mins and back down in 2.
