It was a great hike. The weather was brisk but it wasn't too bad. The hike is fairly easy to do with some wonderful views. My youngest (7 years old) only complained a little because he was hungry and didn't want to wait until the halfway point to eat. ;) We went clockwise and it probably would have been perfect had Mt Rainier not been hiding in clouds. There weren't many people there as well. It was a great hike.

What a beautiful and easy hike! I was the first one on the trail, with boots on the ground at 8am. I only saw one other group my entire hike. Mt. Rainier was hidden but still hiked the loop clockwise. Fall foliage was beautiful. The trail was a bit frosty in places, but it was all melted by the time I made it back to the parking lot around 10am. Would definitely go back again and add Downey Lake to the loop.

Do not make my mistake and park by the side of the road to the trail head if it's your first time. Park at Tipsoo Lake parking lot. From there you will read info about the hike and can make the decision which way to go. Clockwise is a great way to go so you don't have to keep looking back for views. Hiked this with a 10, 8 and 2 year old. All did great. Would love to come back when it is a bit warmer but we went for the fall foliage and it did not disappoint!

Fall colors are in! Hurry while supplies last!!! Super easy hike. Took a little bit of extra time and detoured down to Dewey Lake. Foliage makes it worth it.

Probably one of the easiest and scenic trails ever. Did what WTA says and did the loop clockwise, and it was the best decision ever. There was frost on the shaded areas of the trail, and even though it was sunny and perfect; there was the occasional blustery breeze. You'll pass three ponds/lakes not counting Tipsoo. Dewey Lake was magnificent and gorgeous. After Dewey Lake, you'll start to see Mount Rainier looming, and then the mountain will stay with you until the end. A lot of people started counter clockwise, but you'd have to keep looking back to see Mount Rainier. If you do it clockwise, then it's a treat to see it for the last stretch of the hike.
