Today was a beautiful, clear and cold day to walk for four hours at the refuge. We saw eagles, a kestrel, bushtits, a brown creeper, red-tailed hawks, herons, a few shorebirds, a variety of ducks, a deer, muskrat, cackling geese and seals which were seen at the viewpoint for the Nisqually River! The parking lot was almost full when we arrived at 11:00 AM.

Went with a 4 year old.  There are boardwalk trails as well as gravel trails.  We did not go out past the barns, but it appeared that the gravel paths continued in good condition deeper into the park.  It was a foggy morning so it was difficult to get a good feel for the landscape, but with thousands of birds and beautiful foliage it was still well worth it.  The nature center loans out binoculars and the boy loved trying to look for wildlife with them.  The boardwalk trail through the wetlands is stroller friendly.

Great day for an walk, mild morning temperature. Nice and flat, got out at low tide. Interesting to see the birds feed as the tide changed and water came back into the estuary. No bugs, nice easy walk.

Carried a toddler in a pack on my back... appreciated that the trail was flat. Mt Rainier was out in all its glory! We also spotted an Eagle. Beautiful day! Wasn't crowded at all. (We did pass on large group at the start bird watching but it was empty the rest of the trail.)

Nice walk. My Husband and I saw baby tree frogs, dragonflies and birds.
