Beautiful park! Many trails to choose from, picnicking and scenic areas thrift out park. Rangers keep trails, campgrounds, and bathrooms (honey buckets) safe & clear. Great to spend the day with family. Animals, foliage and plenty serene scenes to soak in. There are a couple lakes that are perfect for kayaking. Fishing was prohibited during our visit. We had a flat tire and the car jack was stuck. along came Ranger Jim to help us out. The Rangers here, are the nicest people you can meet! please help support our parks & enjoy the outdoors. ^_^

We spent a fine morning and afternoon hiking the loop trail up the Staircase Rapids and back via the new bridge. The return portion of the trip on the North side of the river required a couple of easy creek crossings.

We arrived at the trailhead at around 10:30 with only 3 other vehicles. The sun was shining and it was an amazing drive to the trailhead. The trail is easy but uneven tread. Those with knee problems should definitely wear their brace as we heard from another hiker who forgot hers. We did not pass any hikers all the way to the bridge but shortly after we were greeted by a few groups. There were no obstacles blocking any portion of the trail but we did cross a wet portion of the trail but manageable. I was excited to see the bridge since the last time I hiked this trail the bridge was washed out.

This made for an easy addition to the day coming back from hiking Lena Lake. The trail is in great shape, a bit muddy in some spots. Once you cross the bridge, there are a few trees down across the trail. There is a tiny spur before the first big set of blow-downs that detours around, though you'll have to climb or crouch over the last one. Coming around the last mile, I saw quite a few people really close the the edge of the land slide area that took out a bit of the trail awhile ago. I'm hoping people stay safe in this area and practice common sense or there may be a tragic accident soon.
