Great, easy hike for probably just about everyone. Trail is clearly defined, rarely permeated by roots or rocks in any lasting fashion. Two places to stop at the top, both with great views of the bold, turquoise Diablo Lake below and surrounding mountains.
Long drive for us (2 hours to get there, coming from Everett, WA area) but the drive is beautiful on Hwy 20 with lots of scenery.

Seems like the river diverted across what used to be the trail at the very beginning. The stream was easily passable (thanks to whoever put up some logs), but I still recommend waterproof shoes for the moment. Once you get across the stream, the trail is covered in large gravel, so make sure your shoes also have thick, sturdy soles. Beautiful views and newer benches give you plenty of resting spots. Elevation gain was steady and slow. My 6 year old son was up to the challenge.

The bridge at the beginning is in. Fine views, less than 2 miles each way, little elevation gain. Water near the start then none. Great warm up hike.
Writing this report sitting in the sun at 8 am on the steps of the Marblemount Community Center via no password wifi. No need to ever go home! If you stay out here, you can hike from sun up to sundown. Spend the gas money to support the local businesses, not for some oil company CEO's bonus. Highway opens Friday the 11th.

A slightly tricky stream crossing at the beginning (for those with short legs - I'm 6'1, my 5'4 wife thought it was tricky), then snow-free to the overlook. Lots of waterfalls falling from the snowfields on surrounding mountains. Ross Lake is cold. Cascadian Farms is open, and the raspberry chocolate chip ice cream is as tasty as ever.
