Features: Bridge Building
Crew Leader: Carole Bianquis

Overview
Join us for an 2-day All Women's training build to learn how plan and build a puncheon structure. If you've done this before, we'd love your help and mentorship.
This is a women's only training for any female identifying volunteers who would like more time learning how we build these structures and a opportunity to practice those skills.
WTA is working with the Department of Natural Resources to maintain this heavily utilized area.
About the Area
Thanks to the handiwork of various groups in the outdoor community, hikers can now reach Rattlesnake Mountain from the west, starting from a trailhead at Snoqualmie Point.
Expect fewer hikers on this approach, and enjoy fantastic views out over the Snoqualmie Valley, Mount Si, Mount Teneriffe, North Bend and more.
What to Expect
We'll have fun, work hard and make a difference!
Prior experience building puncheon or previous CLC class work for timber structures recommended but not required.
Project Description
Day 1 will be spent moving materials to the bridge site, doing the bridge layout and getting the sills set. Day two will be stringers, decking and bull rails.
Camping and Hiking Information
Expect to hike 3-4 miles over moderately hilly terrain throughout the day. Hike to the work site is about 0.75 miles down hill. We will be carrying some of the bridge materials in along with tools, so this may require more than one trip. Footing at the work site may include being on and off trail, on uneven surfaces, as well as in an out of a seasonal creek.
Schedule
- 8:30 AM: Be ready to sign in and meet the crew, rain or shine
- 8:35 AM: Gather for a safety briefing, then hike to the project site
- Morning: Work at your own pace, and take breaks throughout the day
- 12:00 PM: Lunch on the trail
- Afternoon: Consider trying a new task before wrapping up the day's work
- 3:30 PM: Sign out after enjoying refreshments at the trailhead
For safety reasons, arriving late or leaving early is not allowed.
Special Event
We will be carpooling to the work site behind a locked gate. There is room for 3-4 cars at the hike in spot.
