My dad and I had intentions to hike further up into the mountains, but he is having knee issues so we chose this trail for something flat. There is really only one steep part and it's no more than 20 feet. Just be aware that this is the one muddy part of the trail, so boots are probably a good idea so you don't slip.

There were no other people on this trail except for a few workers on our way back, so it was nice to have a walk in the woods with the trail mostly to ourselves.

Keep in mind that Beaver Lake is not a lake at all. It is an overgrown brown swamp. We didn't mind much, but it may be a disappointment if you're looking for a beautiful lake as a destination.

The trail comes to an abrupt end at the Sauk River where there is a nice spot to eat lunch. However it was somewhat underwhelming. We decided to venture further, so we waded out to a delta and sat on the other side where we were able to get better views of the mountains as well as a nicer spot on the river near some rapids. If you choose to do this, know that you will end up almost knee deep in mud, so be very careful.

Overall, this isn't an ideal place for breathtaking views or a hard workout, but it's a great place to find peace, quiet, and fresh air.

Beware of: bugs, trail conditions

We stopped here at the end of our day and took the trek out to the lake. Couple other cars in the lot when we arrived but one woman I think had just stopped to talk on her phone. Trail starts out nice and easy, very flat. Lots of trees covered in moss, can hear the river in the distance. There's little bridges that go over the many streams that run off into the river. A few muddy places, but nothing too bad although was wishing I brought my poles getting down a few of the washout areas. Before long you reach the lake, which I didn't find terribly impressive. A couple of guys were there fishing with their dog. Bugs were awful despite spraying ourselves down a couple times. Beautiful views of twin peaks and surrounding mtns.

Lovely hike for our 4 year old and us. We went past Beaver Lake, and followed the trail to the river, probably another half mile, which was a good lunch spot. We spotted bear tracks, and spoke with a couple hikers who saw the actual bear. Lots of berries!

Fun nature stroll on Beaver Lake trail. The trail is in good condition with a minor wash out that is easy to navigate and brings you right back up to the trail. We did this hike with our 6 and 2 year children, they loved it. Lots of butterflies, the bleeding hearts have mostly dried up but the trillium are still beautiful. A beautiful trail to experience nature. Should note, there is not a designated space to eat lunch or rest once you get to Beaver Lake, however you can relax on the bride or hang out on some logs. The trail comes to an end about 1/4 mile past the lake.

Hi Y'all! So I'm from here, born in Everett, but haven't been able to do much hiking until recently. A couple friends and I went up to Beaver Lake today and we had a great time just walking in nature! The trail is in great condition with views of the river almost the whole time. The road is paved all the way to the trailhead, but apparently shortly after the trailhead is where where the Mt Loop Highway is no longer paved, make a note of that.
