Apparently this is THE sport for wedding pictures - we saw four wedding parties/elopements here, three of them at the same time. It is a beautiful area and the blueberries are popping. The trail starts out paved to an overlook of Upper Bagley lake sitting at the base of Table Mountain. it then continues in a loop on gravel and rocks with some stairs back to the parking area.

Toilets: the vault toilets at the parking area had to be the smelliest we've ever encountered. My husband went to the bathroom and, even after walking in the fresh air, stunk up the car with the smell of pit toilet. You've been warned.

Visitor Center/gift shop: It was open! It's never open when we are there so we were excited to buy some cool merch. Its currently open Wednesday - Monday (closed Tuesday). I'm not sure when they will close for the season.

Beautiful little interpretative trail!

NOTE: interpretative signs are gone for the season.

Road: a couple brief stops for construction.  Otherwise paved/great condition.

Trail: asphalt halfway, gravel & stone steps the other half, so strollers might be a challenge off the asphalt.  Perfect for families with small children!

Wildflowers: pink monkey flowers, pearly everlasting, cascade asters, fireweed, all on the way out.

Fall Foliage: berry & ash shrubs just starting to turn

Crowds: no one else on the trail at dawn on a Monday

Don’t sleep on this trail!

The half mile loop around Terminal lake is absolutely beautiful. Wildflowers abound and the views of Table Mountain, Bagley lakes, and the surrounding peaks are gorgeous. The small creeks that flow alongside the trail are really wonderful.

About 1/3 of the trail is paved leading to a viewpoint of Bagley Lakes. The rest of the trail is hard packed earth or gravel. There’s no major elevation gain or loss throughout the entire loop. This trailhead starts directly next to the bathrooms in the parking lot for the Heather Meadows visitor center.

I would definitely recommend this trail if you are traveling with young kids or older folks or using assistive mobility devices or have a senior dog like myself. I did this trail at 6:30 AM and had it entirely to myself.

Beautiful interpretive trail starting from the Heather Meadows Visitors Center (which sadly is closed on Tuesdays, meaning today).  Spectacular views, easy terrain, beautiful wildflowers.  Short but a nice leg stretcher and opportunity to learn while oggling spectacular scenery.

A school outing to the Heather Meadows Visitors Center was a good excuse to get the whole family out on the trail.  These are great hikes for families and the weather was fantastic.  We started from Heather Meadows and hiked the north side of the Bagley Lakes Loop.  At the second lake we stopped for cheese and apples, then crossed the stone arches and headed up the spur trail past Austin Pass Lake.

At the visitors center we took the Fire and Ice Loop around Terminal Lake, meeting up with the school group at the picnic area.  From there we drove up to Artists Point, driving around and around the packed parking lot until someone left.  The in-laws pooped out so we had to hussle back before we made it all the way to Huntoon Point.

Lots of great lake reflections of majestic mountains, hanging glaciers, and jagged peaks. Great to see so many happy young faces enjoying nature.
