Today my hiking group made our annual trek to Lincoln Park.  We met just north of the park at Lowman Beach Park stairs opposite the Murray Control Facility.  It was in the low 40’s with overcast skies.  Staring south along Beach Drive into the park we met early morning walkers, dogs and runners on Trail #1 above the beach.  A few shore birds were floating just off shore and the sound was calm.  We kept to beach trail to the south end of the park and a stiff  breeze picked up once we rounded the corner after Coleman Pool.  Several locals commented on our group and asked where we hailed from.  Woodinville to Puyallup was the answer.  A preschool group greeted us as we approached the south bathroom facility.  It was open, clean and stocked with supplies.  Kim, a West Seattle local, guided us through a myriad of trails in the upper park.  We stopped to check out the kids play area and glide swing.  After traversing North and back south down the beach trail and back up again we racked up a nice 4.5 mile walk.  All the trails were open and clear of debris.  Many trails were covered with small fir boughs.  Seattle Parks workers were out servicing amenities.  Another fantastic day out in nature with friends.

There isn’t much fall color left.

The trails are easy to moderate.  Some of the trails have a more gradual grade, but are longer.  The shorter trails are steeper.

Nice mountain views on a clear day.

First visit to this classic locals park, located in West Seattle.

While not a large the park, it does have excellent views towards Vashon, Blake, and the Olympics, and definitely worth an hour stroll along the promenade and trails. One could do this in combo with other West Seattle parks.

We did things clockwise starting along the paved/graded promenade ( #1 ), then returned along the bluff ( #2 ).  The north end of the park is higher, so the climb up from the beach there is longer, but it has switchbacks and stairs.

The interior is a maze of trails, and parklands, but it's the ocean facing trails that are the star of the show.

In my Power Wheelchair we hiked a waterfront 2.8 mile out and back trail of Lincoln Park. According to Strava the elevation gain was 117 ft. We parked in one of the 4 wheelchair spots in the upper parking lot. From there we went on a short hard packed dirt trail (with some lower spots filled with loose gravel). The trail becomes paved and there is an accessible restroom. In 1/4 mile there is another parking lot (maybe 4 wheelchair spots there too?)   Out of the south end of the parking lot there is a steep sidewalk and road which leads to the water. There we saw 4 additional wheelchair parking spots (all full this sunny October 2 day). Here you can see an unobstructed view of the Fauntleroy Ferry dock. Once the water is reached the trail parallels the water with beautiful views of Puget Sound and the driftwood lined beach. First 1/2 of this path is paved to the Colman Saltwater pool and from there the path is hard packed dirt which ends at a park boundary sign.
Our goal today was to enjoy the waterfront. There are a total of 4.6 miles of trails in the park and we did 1.4 (twice). The wheelchair access of the remaining trails is unknown to us at this point.

Parked at the southern lot around 10am, plenty of spaces. We took baby in the running stroller and had no issues getting down to the beach. There is a paved path that spits you right out to the beach walkway area.

Many other dogs also on walks (and people) but the path along the beach is wide enough that it doesn't feel crowded.

We walked north to Lowman Beach Park, it's not too far outside of Lincoln Park. Nice area to rest and let baby out of the stroller to waddle around and play with rocks. Then we headed back on Lincoln Park Way onto 47th Ave where we then went back into Lincoln Park and walked through the park back to our car.

Restrooms in the park were open and clean. We also stumbled upon a movie (or TV?) crew getting set up for a day of shooting. Lots of trailers, golf carts, etc. parked in the "skinny" parking lot along Fauntleroy. Tried to look up what they were shooting but Google came up short. All we saw was a sign on one of the trailers that said "Ms. Banks" but I'm sure that's a code name for someone, right?

It's been a while since I've been to Lincoln Park, always lots to see and explore. Baby and dog had a great time.
