Today my hiking group made our annual trek to Lincoln Park. We met just north of the park at Lowman Beach Park stairs opposite the Murray Control Facility. It was in the low 40’s with overcast skies. Staring south along Beach Drive into the park we met early morning walkers, dogs and runners on Trail #1 above the beach. A few shore birds were floating just off shore and the sound was calm. We kept to beach trail to the south end of the park and a stiff breeze picked up once we rounded the corner after Coleman Pool. Several locals commented on our group and asked where we hailed from. Woodinville to Puyallup was the answer. A preschool group greeted us as we approached the south bathroom facility. It was open, clean and stocked with supplies. Kim, a West Seattle local, guided us through a myriad of trails in the upper park. We stopped to check out the kids play area and glide swing. After traversing North and back south down the beach trail and back up again we racked up a nice 4.5 mile walk. All the trails were open and clear of debris. Many trails were covered with small fir boughs. Seattle Parks workers were out servicing amenities. Another fantastic day out in nature with friends.
