Damn this infernal smoke! I'd had enough and went out to Lord Hill for a hike.

Berries are ripe, but you need to be taller than a deer to find ones that haven't been eaten yet.

Trails are in good shape but the horse poop is starting to pile up on many of them. Hiking down River trail was just obnoxious as the path is very narrow and there's horse poop all over the place.

Parking lot was 'full' (meaning 10 poorly parked people managed to take up all of it) however when I got back to my car around noon it was empty. I don't think I've ever seen that lot empty before.

Had a good hike out there yesterday. The parking lot is small and can fill up, especially when people park awkwardly and leave 1/2 a car of space on either side of them ;)

The park trails are in good shape (the ones I hiked anyways, Main trail, Meet Cutter, Lower Springboard, the Loop trails, and West View)

Does anyone know of a better trail map than the one provided on the official website? I hiked down Meet Cutter looking for Ridgeside and never encountered it. I hiked back up Meet Cutter wondering if I'd just passed it, but didn't see another trail till I made it back up to Lower Springboard. Additionally I ended up on some maintained trails yesterday that weren't on the official map (up around the communication towers).

Looking for a place nearby for a quick morning hike, I decided to check out Lord Hill Park, which, for me, is just under 30 min from home. Arriving at the Main Entrance parking lot at 7:30, I was the second car in the lot, and was fortunate to have the trails completely to myself until within 500ft of the parking lot on my return. Lord Hill has a vast network of multi-use trails, having never been here before, I mapped a roughly 3.5 mile loop, past Beaver Marsh Lake, to Temple Pond and back. There are branching trails everywhere ready for exploring, and I was very happy to have the picture of the trail map I snapped at the entrance to keep me on my chosen route. Somehow misinterpreted the map and missed the turn to get to Beaver Marsh Lake, instead ended up staying on Lakeside to North Temple Pond Loop Trail, made the rest of my chosen path with no issues. Signage seems inconsistent, but there are occasional maps laid out at major trail crossings. Lots of variety of nature and trails to explore if you're looking for a quick hike or walk in the woods without the drive.

Went for a hike with the boys (4 & 6). We arrived at about 8:25 with a handful of cars already there. There was some mud on the trail as expected this time of year, and a few of the smaller trails were a bit overgrown. Cast a few lines into Temple Pond...no success this time. We'll keep trying though! Back to the car just before noon and the lot was full, with cars lining the street. Next time, we'll make a B-line for the pond first off.
