Lord Hill Regional Park — Sep. 2, 2016

Love this trail. We have been through twice and both times did the Beaver Lake trail. Once you take the walk from the trail head down the kinda steepish grade into the park...remember as you go that it's a cool descent into the park but coming out...makes it all uphill. So keep that in mind for the end of your walk. But you can do what we do and just take our time and stop here and there, it's no big. This is a great trail walk. Cool...quiet...lots of foliage and old growth. Lots of places to stop if you need to. Met lots of other hikers here and there but not so many we didn't feel still alone in the park most of the time. I love getting out and into the old growth here and variety of trees and feeling dirt under my feet...this park gives us all of that.

5th day in a row on the trail for hike-a-thon. Though this is more like a walk in the park it was great to bring my 17mo old to participate (she's at the age where she doesn't want to be immobile too long in my carrier). Trails in good condition, some berries, lots of other users including horses. We did a little over 4miles on this warm day.

I arrived at Lord Hill Park around 11:30 AM and the parking lot was nearly full. There were a number of families out hiking and looking for Pokémon this morning. Hiked some familiar trails around Temple Pond and tried out the newish English Pond and Golden Eye trails. All of the trails are in great shape right now with only a little mud in places and no obstacles of note. There are several new trails around Temple Pond that are not named at this point but appear to circle around the north side of the pond to connect existing trails on either side of the pond to form a complete loop. Saw lots of little animals along the way and was fortunate enough to lock eyes with a pair of black tailed deer as they were out foraging for food. Got back to my car around 3:30 after roughly a six mile loop.

I needed a little conditioning hike for the old creaky knee, so we picked this one with some uphill, downhill, decent scenery and close to home. The trails are all in good shape, but somewhat overgrown in spots with those nasty invasive Himalayan blackberries. This is a trail system that is full of surprises, you never quite know where you are. There is signage at a few major intersections, but there are trails that just show up and don't appear on the map. The main trails are easy to follow, Main Trail, Pipeline, and Quarry. If you want to get down to the river, go down the River trail, the others don't have good access. Just stick to the main trails if you have no time for exploring. As many have said before, this park could use better signage and a better downloadable map. We saw very few people.

Went for a trail run around Lord Hill on Saturday. Thankfully got there before the heavy rain hit. Trails were east to follow but there were numerous muddy sections that can be slick if you aren't paying attention. Other than that, run was great, lots of trails to explore.
