Headed up for our cabin reservation on Saturday - this is a lovely spot that I definitely plan to return to. We snowshoed in via the summer route because the winter sno park wasn't being plowed yet. The road to the summer trailhead was a bit sketchy with a good amount of snow on it and some downed trees (including one blocking most of the road that essentially had a car-shaped cutout on one side), but we made it! Glad I had a shovel in my car for if needed.
We wore snowshoes from the start - there were quite a few patchy spots, but there was enough snow to not need to ever carry them. They were very helpful higher up as the trail seemed to be rocky underneath, which would have made for unpleasant postholing without snowshoes, and the snow got deeper as we went to the point where you'd posthole every step without them. The larches were mostly past prime but still golden and beautiful - I had no idea there were so many out in this area.
It was 3.2 miles to the cabin, which was cozy and wonderful. It is single group-use by reservation. While it looks like you can reserve it for up to 6 people, there are only 3 cots and honestly it would be crowded with more than 3 people (I wouldn't try to fit more than 4, and 2 people was perfect). Here's my track of the summer trail in (with a very short bit of wandering near the cabin because I wanted to see what was around the corner, but you'll see the sign as you approach and can skip that bit): https://caltopo.com/m/1R1GDTT
The cabin was stocked with wood and propane for the coleman stove. We melted snow for water without issue. There was mouse poop on the plates and whatnot - seems like a mouse likes the "kitchen" corner. The carbon monoxide alarm was beeping like it was low on batteries, so the next person up should bring a 9-volt battery to replace it - I left a voicemail mentioning this to the rangers, so it's also possible they will take care of it. The solar lights worked, but I brought some twinkly lights to use instead. Very nice to have an outhouse.

Hiked in Snow Peak Trail to the Kettle Crest for our two night stay at Snow Peak cabin. The trails are in good shape and the Aspens were gorgeous hiking in. Larch's are lime green and on their way to golden soon. It is hunting season so wear your bright colors on trail. The stars were bright and we enjoyed the warmth of the cabin as the weather changed to cold and windy overnight. The Colville National Forest is a great fall destination!

Spent two nights in the cabin. Took the winter trail in. It was a bit more challenging than I expected with a pack on. Your results may vary. If you're experienced I'm sure you'll be great.
Good news, the camp stove has been fixed and working great! We only used two cots. Three were set up, so I'm not sure about the condition of the fourth.
No bugs on the trail, but we really needed a fly swatter for the cabin. They were constantly getting in. Stuffing a towel in the door cracks helped.
Reading the logs it had snowed a few inches a few days before we arrived. There was only a tiny bit left on one side of the cabin by the time we arrived.
The cabin really is a fun and special place.

Always a fabulous time at Snow Peak Cabin, stayed two nights. Rode in on our mules. Paddocks are still in great shape, water trough flowing, and great grazing out of site of the trail if you go up the steep old trail by the water trough. 4 cots and plenty of sleeping mats, I slept on the porch. Plenty of propane but the stove was not working, eek! Lucky we brought a jetboil. Never had this issue before, I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon. Trail beautiful and clear to Barnaby Buttes. Thank you trail crews!

Spent 3 nights at Snow Peak Cabin with friends. Trail from Snow peak TH is snow free and in great shape, drive in is also easy on forest road. Cabin is missing a cot (still!) and only sleeps three so be aware. Slept in my tent, which was actually quite lovely with the full moon. We had backpackers show up the last night and so we gave them the camp sight and moved closer to our rented cabin. They had come from White Mountain and were exhausted, lots of blowdowns. Water was plentiful, pouring into trough. Hiked to top of Snow peak, snow on top but easy to walk on. Lady bugs were covering the peak. Hiked as far as Bald Mountain where we encountered numerous down trees on the trail.
