We parked at the Prairie Overlook trailhead next to the Jacob Ebey House (open 10 to 4pm) Thursday-Sunday before Labor Day. Lots of learning and history here; you can even get your passport stamped. Not sure you need a Discover Pass here as it is jointly managed by the National Park and State Park services. We did the full loop, gaining elevation on the ridge first and then descending to the beach for a mid-hike snack. Great views, lots of birds! You may want to keep kids close on the ridge. There was a nice breeze for us.
Our full trip lasted about noon to five, pretty casual hiking. Lots to explore in the sand and additional play in the driftwood forts.

It's a good family hike, I went with my parents and they were comfortable throughout!!

We started at the beach trailhead and went northwest along the shoreline. I t was about three hours before high tide and there was lots of room to walk. At the north end of Perego's Lake we took the trail up to the bluff. Since the last time I was here there has been some significant erosion, especially at the first switchback. It is on the upside of the trail and at that point it has made the trail wider, but in other places there is some narrowing making an already narrow tread a bit more tricky.
The wildflowers are pretty well spent but the rare prickly pear cactus is fun to see. Once on the Bluff Trail we completed the loop back to the beach parking lot.

Drove from north Seattle through Deception Pass to parking lot across from the cemetery. No one else in that lot at 8am on a Saturday morning. We enjoyed adding on the prairie trail to get to the bluff trail where we hiked counter clockwise. The trail is easy to hike and easy to follow but can be narrow and at times, brushy. Walking along the beach is a treat- it is nice to get prairie and forest and beach all in one hike . We wore boots and took our poles but were over prepared- would be fine to do in sneakers. Very few folks on the trail with us but it was a foggy day. We took our time and made it into a little over two hours round trip . We then drove south to Clinton and got delicious sandwiches at Pickles Deli before using the ferry to Mukilteo to come home- we drove up at 11:30 and got right on the boat.
Took the Mukilteo Ferry and reached @ the Ebey Landing Parking around 8:00 AM. There were few cars already parked. The hike is steep in the beginning but once you hike the steep area of the hike, it's straight and easy trail. The views are just GREAT. Trail goes with the beach, and I loved it. Very pleasant and scenic trail. Trail takes you down to the beach and from there you can walk back to the Parking spot. The whole trip took me 1 hour and 15 minutes.
