Beautiful hike and my boys, ages 9 and 12, enjoyed it. I did hold their hands on parts of the bluff trail as the trail is narrow and the bluff very high.

This is a superb lowlands hike to do during the next few sunny days. A little slippery mud here and there, otherwise trail is fine. The trail back that runs next to the lagoon is easier walking than the beach cobble.

Just leaving Fort Ebey, I then decided to take Madrona Road which lead me into Coupeville. This town is charming! I was curious about the history and it's cemetery so I mapped it out and it took me to Ebey's Landing. What a pleasant surprise! There are 4 block houses built on this site, one of them is in the cemetery. There is a quick trail to J Ebey's house and large farmland that has an amazing view of the Olympics! This whole area was deemed the "Sunnyside Donation Claim (Hence the Cemetery's name). I will have to come back here and hike the trail down to the beach! ^_^

Beautiful Sunday morning at Ebey's Landing. Walked the full loop up the bluff, down the switchbacks, back along the trail next to Perego Lake and then back down the remaining stretch of beach. The trail is in great shape - nicely brushed back. You will need a Discovery Pass to park. The beach was busy with folks fishing from shore for the salmon run that comes through this time of year but the trail was nearly empty. It didn't look like folks were having much luck with the fishing. We did have a big, male sea lion come up close between the kelp beds and the shore, but dove right back under the water and disappeared. If you have done this hike before but walked back along the beach - try the trail that runs next to Perego lake. It offers close up views of the lake, much more bird/wildlife action and a bit more privacy.
